...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM FRIDAY TO
11 AM PDT SATURDAY...

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE...SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK INCLUDING LODGEPOLE
AND THE GENERALS HIGHWAY ABOVE 7000 FEET.

* SNOW AMOUNTS AND LEVELS...2 TO 6 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET.

* WINDS...WEST 15 TO 30 MPH GUSTING TO 40 MPH.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN FRIDAY EVENING AND CONTINUE THROUGH
THE   OVERNIGHT HOURS. ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL WILL END LATE
SATURDAY   MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THIS IS THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOW EXPECTED FOR THE
SEASON. THE WEATHER WILL TRANSITION FROM RELATIVELY WARM AND DRY
TO COLD AND SNOWY VERY QUICKLY FRIDAY EVENING. ANYONE WITH
OUTDOOR PLANS IN THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD PLAN AHEAD FOR ADVERSE
WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS MAY INCLUDE DELAYING TRAVEL PLANS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND
BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN
AREAS.

SIERRA...

.SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER THE EAST SLOPES OF THE SOUTHERN SIERRA
FRIDAY EVENING AS A STRONG PACIFIC STORM PUSHES INTO CALIFORNIA.
SNOW WILL PERSIST OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY MORNING AND WILL
ALSO COMBINE WITH STRONG WINDS TO CREATE LOCAL WHITEOUT CONDITIONS
AT TIMES.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM FRIDAY TO 11 AM
PDT SATURDAY ABOVE 7000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE 7000 FEET FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM FRIDAY TO 11 AM PDT SATURDAY. THIS REPLACES
THE WINTER STORM WATCH PREVIOUSLY IN EFFECT.


* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN TO FALL ABOVE 9000 FEET EARLY FRIDAY
  EVENING THEN PERSIST OVERNIGHT BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SNOW SHOWERS
  SATURDAY MORNING.

* SNOW LEVEL: SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT NEAR 9000 FEET FRIDAY
  EVENING AND DROP TO NEAR 6000 FEET BY SATURDAY MORNING.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: ABOVE 7000 FEET SNOW TOTALS OF 5 TO 10
  INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED WITH LESSER AMOUNTS BELOW 7000 FEET.

* WINDS: 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH NEAR PASSES ARE EXPECTED
  CREATING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND WHITE OUT
  CONDITIONS.

* IMPACTS: PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE DIFFICULTIES FOR HIKERS AND
  CAMPERS AND TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES ON HIGH ELEVATION ROADS. TREES
  WITH REMAINING LEAVES ON THEIR BRANCHES MAY SUCCUMB TO THE WEIGHT
  OF THE SNOW. WIND DRIVEN SNOW WILL BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS
  CREATING WHITE OUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ANYONE PLANNING RECREATION OR TRAVEL IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA SHOULD
PREPARE FOR HARSH WINTER CONDITIONS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED
ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
