PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive or walk through areas where water covers roadway! The
water may be deeper than it appears. Remember...Turn around, don`t
drown!

Forecasts are based on rainfall that has occurred and that which is
forecast to occur. Routine 12 hours of forecast rainfall is used for
most sites. Routine 48 hours of forecast rainfall is used on Tibbee
Creek...Luxapallila Creek...Noxubee River...and the Tombigbee River.


The next regularly scheduled update is expected between 8 and 10 AM.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Mississippi River At Vicksburg
* from Tuesday July 14 until further notice.
* At  9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 41.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 43.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage
  Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 43.5 feet...Long Lake Subdivision is completely flooded.
  Vicksburg Floodwall gates at train depot and the lumber yard gate 8
  are closed.
* Impact...At 43.0 feet...Jackson Lane in North Vicksburg begins to
  flood.
* Impact...At 42.0 feet...Bunge Grain facility near St. Joseph
  Louisiana ceases loading operations. Chickasaw Road is going under
  water just west of Chickasaw Community.
* Impact...At 41.5 feet...Water reaches the slab of the first
  structure in the Chickasaw Bayou Subdivision.
* Impact...At 41.2 feet...Long Lake Road is under water starting where
  the low road to the island takes off south.  Access to Long Lake
  Community requires a boat. Chickasaw Road goes under water just
  west of the Chickasaw Community.
* Impact...At 41.0 feet...The storm water drain valves are closed at
  the flood gates along the Vicksburg Water Front.

* At  9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 47.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by tomorrow
  evening and will continue to rise to near 50.0 feet by Wednesday
  morning.
* Impact...At 48.0 feet...Carthage Point Road becomes impassable.
* Impact...At 47.0 feet...Water begins to enter the former Belwood
  Golf Course and Carthage Point Road area south of Natchez.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by early Tuesday
  afternoon and will continue to rise to near 48.5 feet by Monday
  morning.
* Impact...At 48.0 feet...Water begins to cover the dirt road leading
  to the Farmers Grain terminal facility which is north of the
  Greenville bridge.

* until Monday evening...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 1000 AM Wednesday The stage was 32.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 31 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 32.5 feet by this
  Thursday evening. The river will fall below flood stage early Monday
  morning.
* Impact...at 33.0 feet...Moderate flooding occurs.  Severe backwater
  flooding occurs from the confluence of the Red River with Loggy
  Bayou through the lower Flat River and Red Chute Bayou in southern
  Bossier Parish.   Cattle and equipment should be moved to higher
  ground away from levees.

* At 1000 AM Wednesday the stage was 35.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 33 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.5 feet by
  Thursday evening with little change through Friday morning.
* Impact...at 36.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding of several hundred
  acres both upstream and downstream from Grand Ecore take place with
  backwater flooding of tributary bayous that include Bayou Pierre up
  through Powhattan, Louisiana.  Backwater flooding also affects
  Iatt, Saline, Black, and Nantaches Bayous.  Move livestock and
  equipment to higher ground away from levees.

Forecast crests are based upon rainfall that has occurred along with
anticipated rain for the next 12 hours. Adjustments to the forecasts
will be made if additional heavy rainfall occurs.

rushing water can carry away most vehicles including pickups.  Turn
around and don`t drown!

* At  8:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 50.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 53.0 feet by
  Thursday July 16th.
* Impact...At 51.0 feet...All river islands along the reach from Red
  River Landing to Baton Rouge will be inundated. Recreational camps
  and river bottom farm land will be under water.
* Impact...At 48.0 feet...Access roads will be inundated and
  evacuation of all river islands must be complete. Protection of
  people and property in the river bottom land on the river side of
  the levees must be complete.
* Impact...At 46.0 feet...River traffic will become dangerous. A levee
  crevasse would flood adjacent farm land. Significant flooding of
  Raccourci Island will continue and evacuation of the island is
  recommended.
* Impact...At 45.0 feet...Between the 40 and 45 foot stage flooding of
  Raccourci Island becomes significant. At the 45 foot stage
  evacuation of the island is recommended.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage by Sunday
  July 5th and then continue rising until cresting at around 36.0
  feet by Thursday July 16th.
* Impact...At 36.0 feet...River traffic and industrial activity on the
  river side of the levees will be greatly affected. Navigational
  safety regulations will be strictly enforced.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet...River islands from Red River Landing
  downstream to Baton Rouge will be inundated.

* At 10:00 AM Tuesday The stage was 30.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Forecast...Expect little change through early Wednesday morning as the
  Red River crests near 31 feet.
* Impact...at 31.0 feet...Russel Road will be overflowed and closed
  between Blanchard highway and Interstate 220 in north Shreveport.
  Also expect backwater flooding up Cross Bayou, Twelve Mile Bayou,
  and lower McCain Creek.  High water will creep up to near southern
  Fant Parkway and near the Teague Parkway.
