URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
237 AM CDT WED AUG 5 2015

...HOT WEATHER IS IN STORE INTO THIS WEEKEND AS STRONG HIGH
PRESSURE ALOFT INTENSIFIES OVER THE AREA...

.HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 98 TO 103 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON WILL RESULT
IN AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES EXCEEDING 105 DEGREES GENERALLY
ACROSS THE NORTHERN HALF OF NORTH TEXAS. FROM THURSDAY THROUGH
SATURDAY...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 105 DEGREES
WITH HEAT INDICES BETWEEN 104 AND 109 DEGREES ACROSS THE ENTIRE
AREA. THE HOT CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY PERSIST SUNDAY INTO EARLY
NEXT WEEK WITH THE HEAT ADVISORY BEING EXTENDED IN TIME IN FUTURE
FORECASTS.

* TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 98 TO 105 DEGREES WITH MAXIMUM
  HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 105 TO 109.

* IMPACTS...OVEREXERTION WILL LEAD TO DEHYDRATION...WHICH COULD
  RESULT IN HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE
EXPECTED TO MEET OR EXCEED 105 DEGREES FOR AT LEAST TWO
CONSECUTIVE DAYS.

BE SURE TO CHECK ON PERSONS WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS...THE ELDERLY AND
OUTDOOR PETS...AS THEY ARE THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT EXHAUSTION
AND HEAT STROKE. NEVER LEAVE YOUNG CHILDREN OR PETS IN AN ENCLOSED
VEHICLE...EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME...AS TEMPERATURES CAN QUICKLY RISE
TO LIFE THREATENING LEVELS.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE
AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
