...EXTENDED PERIOD OF HEAT EXPECTED ACROSS THE MISSOURI OZARKS
AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS...

.AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN PARKED OVER
THE REGION THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES
TO CLIMB INTO THE UPPER 90S TO LOWER 100S WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES
ABOVE 100 INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.  THE CUMULATIVE EFFECT OF
MULTIPLE DAYS OF HEAT INDEX VALUES ABOVE 100 DEGREES WILL RESULT
IN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT MONDAY...

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...TEMPERATURES HAD ALREADY CLIMBED INTO THE
  MID TO UPPER 90S THIS AFTERNOON WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES RANGING
  FROM THE UPPER 90S TO AROUND 105. HEAT INDEX VALUES SHOULD REACH
  THE 102 TO 107 DEGREE RANGE THIS AFTERNOON.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...FOR ALL LOCATIONS ACROSS THE
  MISSOURI OZARKS INTO EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS THROUGH MONDAY.

* TEMPERATURE...TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE UPPER 90S TO AROUND
  100 DEGREES. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 107 ON AN
  AFTERNOON BASIS.

* IMPACTS...THE CUMULATIVE EFFECTS OF MULTIPLE DAYS OF AFTERNOON
  HEAT INDEX VALUES ABOVE 100 DEGREES WILL RESULT IN AN INCREASED
  RISK OF HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES. YOUNG CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY...
  AND THOSE WITHOUT ACCESS TO AIR CONDITIONING WILL BE
  PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT TUESDAY.

* EXCESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH
  TUESDAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT GIVEN ALL THE AREA
  EVENTS...FROM HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL AND SOCCER GAMES AND
  PRACTICES...TO ONGOING STATE FAIRS AND FESTIVALS.

* TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE THEIR HEAT UP WELL INTO THE 90S
  EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. THESE TEMPERATURES
  WILL COMBINE WITH HIGH HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE AFTERNOON HEAT
  INDEX VALUES FROM 100 TO 105 FOR MOST LOCALES. IT IS ALSO
  POSSIBLE ISOLATED LOCATIONS COULD SEE THE HEAT INDEX TOP 105
  AT TIMES.

* THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL
  CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. TAKE
  EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
  POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
