EVENING...
...VERY ROUGH SURF AND BEACH EROSION POSSIBLE NORTH OF
CAPE LOOKOUT THROUGH TONIGHT...

.LONG PERIOD SWELL FROM TROPICAL CYCLONE JOSE WILL CONTINUE TO
IMPACT EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA BEACHES RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT
OCEAN OVERWASH NORTH OF CAPE HATTERAS, A HIGH THREAT OF RIP
CURRENTS, DANGEROUS SHORE BREAK, VERY ROUGH SURF AND MINOR TO
MODERATE BEACH EROSION FROM CAPE LOOKOUT NORTH. MINOR SOUND SIDE
FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE THROUGH
THIS EVENING. DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND ROUGH SURF WILL LIKELY
CONTINUE AT AREA BEACHES THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

* HAZARDS...A HIGH THREAT OF STRONG RIP CURRENT AND DANGEROUS
  SHORE BREAK. SIGNIFICANT OCEAN OVERWASH WITH COASTAL FLOODING
  1 TO 3 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL, ESPECIALLY NORTH OF CAPE
  HATTERAS. VERY ROUGH SURF WITH MINOR TO MODERATE BEACH
  EROSION. THERE IS ALSO THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR SOUND SIDE
  FLOODING UP TO 1 FOOT ABOVE GROUND TONIGHT.

* LOCATION...RIP CURRENTS, ALL AREA BEACHES. MOST SIGNIFICANT
  COASTAL FLOODING AND OVERWASH WILL BE FROM CAPE HATTERAS NORTH.

* POTENTIAL IMPACTS...HIGHWAY 12 FROM CAPE HATTERAS NORTH WILL
  LIKELY BE FLOODED AND IMPASSABLE AT TIMES. BEACH AND DUNE
  EROSION AT VULNERABLE AREAS AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE, WHICH
  WILL OCCUR AROUND 730 PM THIS EVENING.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...1 TO 3 FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

* SURF HEIGHT...8 TO 12 FEET.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT
FOR RISING WATER, AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT LIFE AND
PROPERTY.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA, PRODUCING LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION AND
DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS.

IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT REMAIN CALM. DON`T FIGHT THE CURRENT.
SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. WHEN OUT OF THE
CURRENT, SWIM BACK TO SHORE. IF TIRED, FLOAT OR TREAD WATER UNTIL
OUT OF THE RIP CURRENT. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE SHORE AND
CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.

* LOCATION...VIRGINIA BEACH AND OUTER BANKS CURRITUCK LOCATIONS ADJACENT TO
  THE ATLANTIC OCEAN...CHESAPEAKE BAY AND TIDAL TRIBUTARIES.

* TIMING...FOR TIDAL FLOODING...EXPECT MODERATE FLOODING WITHIN 2 HOURS EITHER
  SIDE OF THE HIGH TIDE CYCLE LATE THIS EVENING. ADDITIONAL MINOR FLOODING IS
  EXPECTED WITH THE FOLLOWING HIGH TIDE CYCLE WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE MOST
  LIKELY TIME FOR STRONG RIP CURRENTS IS A COUPLE HOURS ON EITHER SIDE OF LOW
  TIDE. HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW CONTINUES THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...WIDESPREAD FLOODING OF VULNERABLE AREAS WILL RESULT
  IN AN ELEVATED THREAT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE TO HOMES AND BUSINESSES NEAR THE
  WATERFRONT AND SHORELINE. WATER WILL BE 2 TO 3 FEET DEEP IN SOME AREAS
  RESULTING IN A SUFFICIENT DEPTH TO CLOSE NUMEROUS ROADS AND THREATEN HOMES
  AND BUSINESSES. FLOODING WILL EXTEND INLAND FROM THE WATERFRONT ALONG TIDAL
  RIVERS AND BAYS RESULTING IN SOME ROAD CLOSURES AND FLOODING OF VEHICLES.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...BREAKING WAVES WILL RESULT IN BEACH EROSION WITH SOME
  MINOR DAMAGE POSSIBLE TO DUNE STRUCTURES.

* SURF OR RIP CURRENT RISK...NEARSHORE LARGE BREAKING WAVES OF 8 TO 11 FT WILL
  RESULT IN DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS AND A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. DO NOT
  ENTER OR APPROACH THE WATER DUE TO THE RISK OF BEING SWEPT AWAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. COASTAL
RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RISING WATER...AND TAKE

LONGSHORE CURRENTS...SNEAKER WAVES AND OTHER HAZARDS CREATE LIFE-THREATENING
CONDITIONS IN THE SURF ZONE. CAUTION SHOULD BE USED WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER.
