.AN INTENSE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVING SOUTH THROUGH THE
REGION WILL USHER A COLD AIR MASS INTO THE AREA. THE COLD AIR
WILL ARRIVE ON GUSTY NORTH WINDS. SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS GENERATED
BY THE DISTURBANCE WILL BEGIN THIS AFTERNOON. THE RAIN SHOWERS
WILL CHANGE TO SNOW EARLY THIS EVENING. EVEN THOUGH THE UPPER
DISTURBANCE WILL PULL OUT OF THE AREA OVERNIGHT...COLD AIR FLOWING
SOUTH ACROSS LAKE SUPERIOR WILL RESULT IN A CONTINUATION OF THE
SNOW SHOWERS FOR THE REST OF TONIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

  DIMINISH BY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM
  AROUND 4 INCHES IN THE SNOWBELT TO AN INCH OR TWO ELSEWHERE.

* OTHER IMPACTS...GUSTY NORTH WINDS WILL GENERATE SOME BLOWING
  AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS LIKELY TO
MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND
GUSTY WINDS WILL RESULT IN HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS. GIVEN
THAT THIS IS THE FIRST SUBSTANTIAL WINTER-WEATHER EPISODE OF THE
SEASON...IT MAKE TAKE SOME DRIVERS A LITTLE TIME TO READJUST TO

.A STRONG SURGE OF COLD AIR FROM CANADA LATE TODAY WILL MOVE OVER
A RELATIVELY WARM LAKE SUPERIOR AND ALLOW ACCUMULATING SNOW
SHOWERS TO DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF NORTHERN WISCONSIN THIS EVENING.
THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW INTENSITY WILL PEAK AROUND MIDNIGHT AND
LINGER INTO FRIDAY MORNING. PARTS OF IRON COUNTY CAN EXPECT
SNOWFALL TOTALS BETWEEN 2 AND 4 INCHES. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL
LIKELY BE ALONG THE HIGHER TERRAIN IN THE GOGEBIC RANGE.

  INTENSITY WILL PEAK LATE THIS EVENING AND JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 4 INCHES. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL
  LIKELY BE ACROSS THE ELEVATED TERRAIN IN THE GOGEBIC RANGE.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...10 TO 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THERE COULD
  BE PATCHY BLOWING SNOW WHICH WOULD REDUCE VISIBILITY IN THE
  MORE INTENSE SNOW BANDS.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL COULD BE DIFFICULT THIS EVENING AND
  OVERNIGHT...ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 2 AND STATE HIGHWAY 77.

SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
