URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
452 AM CST TUE MAR 3 2015

...A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON WEDNESDAY
THROUGH NOON THURSDAY FOR ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING A WINTRY MIX
INTO MIDDLE TENNESSEE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S FOR MOST OF THE REGION TODAY WILL
FALL TO HIGHS IN THE 20S BY THURSDAY FOLLOWING THE PASSAGE OF A
STRONG COLD FRONT. AS THE FRONT PASSES TOMORROW...PRECIPITATION
WILL SWITCH FROM RAIN...TO A MIX OF FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND
SNOW. THE WINTRY MIX WILL TURN MAINLY TO SNOW DURING WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON OVER THE NORTHWEST... THEN SWITCH OVER TO MAINLY SNOW IN
OTHER PARTS OF THE MID STATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

RIGHT NOW...IT LOOKS LIKE SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS WILL AVERAGE
AROUND 3 OR 4 INCHES...WITH SOME HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE NORTH AND
LOWER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE SOUTH. ICE ACCUMULATION FROM FREEZING RAIN
IS EXPECTED TO AVERAGE MOSTLY AROUND A TENTH OF A INCH. YOU SHOULD
REALIZE...HOWEVER...THAT THESE FORECAST AMOUNTS ARE SUBJECT TO
CHANGE AND MAY BE UPDATED LATER TODAY.

MAJOR TRAVEL IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AS THE WINTRY PRECIPITATION SPREADS OVER THE
AREA. IN FACT...MAJOR TRAVEL IMPACTS WILL LIKELY LAST ALL THE WAY
INTO FRIDAY AFTERNOON SINCE TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN
BELOW THE FREEZING MARK THURSDAY AND MUCH OF FRIDAY. LOW
TEMPERATURES IN MANY AREAS FRIDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO REACH
THE SINGLE DIGITS.
