THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM SUNDAY TO
4 PM EST MONDAY.

* LOCATIONS...THE WYOMING AND LACKAWANNA VALLEYS OF NORTHEAST
  PENNSYLVANIA...INCLUDING THE WILKES-BARRE SCRANTON METRO
  AREA...AS WELL AS ADJACENT SECTIONS OF THE POCONO PLATEAU.

* HAZARDS...HEAVY SNOW...AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL FOR A PERIOD OF
  SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS...STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL OF 8 TO 12 INCHES. THE
  GREATEST AMOUNTS WILL BE FOUND OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS TO THE
  NORTH AND EAST OF SCRANTON. SOMEWHAT LOWER SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE
  POSSIBLE IN AREAS WHERE SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN ARE MOST
  PERSISTENT MONDAY MORNING. A TENTH TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH ICE
  ACCRETION MAY ALSO OCCUR MONDAY MORNING OVER PORTIONS OF THE
  REGION.

* TIMING...STEADY LIGHT SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION DURING THE
  LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS ON SUNDAY...GENERALLY
  BETWEEN 4 AND 8 PM. THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL FALL FROM LATE SUNDAY
  NIGHT THROUGH MIDDAY MONDAY...WHEN SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2
  INCHES PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE. FOR AREAS ALONG AND SOUTH OF
  INTERSTATE 84...SNOW COULD CHANGE OVER TO SLEET AND FREEZING
  RAIN FOR A TIME EARLY MONDAY MORNING. THE MOST LIKELY TIME FRAME
  FOR THIS CHANGE OVER WILL BE FROM ABOUT 4 TO 10 AM. SNOW WILL
  GRADUALLY TAPER OFF BY MID TO LATE AFTERNOON ON MONDAY.
