Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.

Weather hazards expected...

  Limited non thunderstorm wind risk.
  Significant fire weather risk.

DISCUSSION...

Elevated to locally significant fire weather conditions will
continue this afternoon as humidity remains low and winds remain
gusty. The fire conditions should improve this evening as winds
become lighter.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms returns to the area Sunday
and Monday however confidence remains low during this time frame.

This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as
much of Eastern Oklahoma.

SIGNIFICANT WINDS.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...Ongoing...decreasing after sunset.

FIRE WEATHER DANGER.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...Ongoing...improving after sunset.

DISCUSSION...
Winds will continue to gust 25 to 35 mph across much of eastern
Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through the remainder of the
afternoon. Grassland fire spread rates will remain a concern
as humidity levels also remain very low. Portions of southeast
Oklahoma remain at a higher risk of grassland fire this
afternoon as fuels remain very dry across this region.
Winds will decrease by sunset and fire weather conditions will
improve.

SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
Spotter Activation Not Expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.
WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY...No Hazards.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY...High Wind Potential.
SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential.
MONDAY...No Hazards.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Temperatures will warm well above seasonal normals for late
week into next weekend. Winds will be gusty by late week
through the weekend in advance of the next storm system.
Rain chances return Saturday night and increase Sunday
through Monday as the storm system passes. Isolated to
scattered thunderstorms will also be possible along with
locally heavy rainfall.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Kansas,
south central Kansas, southwest Kansas, and west central Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Elevated to Near-Critical fire weather conditions will develop
late this morning, generally to the west of Highway 83 to the
Colorado line as winds increase in speed from the northwest at the
same time temperatures warm through the 60s into the 70s and
relative humidity falls to 15 to 20 percent. Any open flame could
quickly burn out of control with erratic behavior in these
conditions. Winds will gradually decrease in speed after about 30
PM CST.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
