NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ELKO NV

...HIGH STREAM FLOWS THIS WEEK...

TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO WARM FOR THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. RIVERS
CREEKS AND STREAMS ARE ALREADY RUNNING STRONG AND WITH WARMER
TEMPERATURES SOME SMALL MOUNTAIN STREAMS MAY EXCEED BANK-FULL
POSSIBLY CAUSING SOME MINOR FLOODING ISSUES. THE JARBIDGE RIVER
IS RESPONDING TO INCREASED SNOW MELT AND IS RISING HIGHER EACH
EVENING. IF TRAVELING IN THE BACK-COUNTRY THIS WEEK...BE AWARE
THAT SOME DIRT OR GRAVEL ROADWAYS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE AT TIMES.

AS WATER FROM STREAMS MAKES ITS WAY INTO THE HUMBOLDT
RIVER...INCREASING FLOWS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE HUMBOLDT RIVER
FROM PALISADE TO WINNEMUCCA. NO FLOODING IS FORECAST FOR THE
HUMBOLDT AT THIS TIME.

...WARM TEMPERATURES TO BRING INCREASED FLOWS IN RIVERS AND
STREAMS BY THE WEEKEND...

VERY WARM TEMPERATURES FORECAST THIS WEEK ARE EXPECTED TO
INCREASE SNOW MELT ACROSS AREA MOUNTAINS RESULTING IN
SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED FLOWS ON AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS.
FORECASTS CALL FOR STREAM FLOWS TO INCREASE BY 5 TO 10 TIMES
CURRENT LEVELS BY THIS WEEKEND AT SOME LOCATIONS. AT THIS TIME
FORECASTS KEEP RIVER FLOWS WELL BELOW FLOOD STAGE FOR ALL
LOCATIONS.

FOR THOSE LIVING NEAR AREA WATERWAYS THIS LOOKS LIKE THE LAST
CHANCE TO FINALIZE ANY PREPARATIONS FOR RUNOFF SEASON. MOVE ANY
EQUIPMENT AND LIVESTOCK OUT OF LOW LYING AREAS NEAR RIVERS AND
STREAMS. FOR THOSE PLANNING RECREATION ON AREA WATERWAYS THIS
WEEKEND BE PREPARED FOR CHANGING CONDITIONS AND SIGNIFICANTLY
HIGHER FLOWS.
