COUNTIES...

AT 1027 PM MDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN DUE
TO THUNDERSTORMS...WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN BACA
COUNTY AT THIS TIME. THIS WILL CAUSE ARROYO AND SMALL STREAM
FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

THIS FLOODING WILL REMAIN OVER MAINLY RURAL AREAS OF SOUTHEASTERN LAS
ANIMAS AND SOUTHWESTERN BACA COUNTIES.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STREAMS AND DRAINAGES...PINTADA CREEK...
TECOLATE CREEK...NORTH CARRIZO CREEK...SALTILLO CREEK...MIDDLE WATER
CREEK...COTTONWOOD CREEK...EAST CARRIZO CREEK...SOUTH FORK SAND
ARROYO AND WEST CARRIZO CREEK.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES.  ADDITIONALLY...

AT 1021 PM MDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN DUE TO
THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS NORTHERN BACA AND SOUTHERN BENT AND
PROWERS COUNTIE. RADAR IS ESTIMATING BETWEEN 3/4 AND 1 1/2 INCHES OF
RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER THE PAST HOUR. THIS WILL CAUSE ARROYO AND SMALL
STREAM FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA...AS WELL AS STANDING AND
PONDING OF WATER ON AREA ROADWAYS.
