URGENT - MARINE WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY NC
303 AM EDT SAT NOV 1 2014

...STRONG WINDS AND ROUGH SEAS EXPECTED ACROSS THE EASTERN NORTH
CAROLINA COASTAL WATERS THROUGH MONDAY...

.AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OFF THE NORTH CAROLINA
COAST THIS EVENING. A STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SET UP
BETWEEN THE STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE OFFSHORE AND HIGH PRESSURE
BUILDING IN FROM THE WEST RESULTING IN GALE FORCE WINDS FOR ALL
OF THE EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA COASTAL WATERS INCLUDING THE SOUNDS
AND STORM FORCE GUSTS FOR SEVERAL HOURS ACROSS THE CENTRAL
WATERS. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 30 TO 40 KNOTS WITH
GUSTS TO 50 KNOTS FOR THE CENTRAL WATERS LATE TONIGHT INTO
SUNDAY MORNING. ALTHOUGH WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH BEGINNING LATE
SUNDAY AFTERNOON AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER THE WATERS...SEAS WILL
LINGER ABOVE 6 FEET THROUGH MONDAY.

* SEAS...9 TO 14 FEET.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES
EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE
HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.
