...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 8 PM EDT FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* AREAS AFFECTED: CENTRAL AND EASTERN VIRGINIA...NORTHEAST NORTH
  CAROLINA...AND THE LOWER EASTERN SHORE.

* MAXIMUM FORECAST HEAT INDEX VALUES: 105 to 109 degrees.

* TIMING: Peak heat indices are expected during the afternoon
  hours, but some locations near the coast may see values peak by
  late morning before the seabreeze develops in the afternoon.

* IMPACTS: PROLONGED EXPOSURE OR ANY STRENUOUS ACTIVITY MAY LEAD
  TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES THAT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL
  ATTENTION.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

   Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside.
When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 7 PM EDT FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from noon to 7 PM EDT Friday.

* Heat Index Values...In the lower 100s due to temperatures in
  the lower 90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

* Timing...Friday afternoon through Friday evening.

* Impacts...The combination of high temperatures and high humidity
  will lead to an increased risk of heat related stress and
  illnesses. The young, elderly, those without air conditioning,
  and those conducting strenuous outdoor activities will be the
  most susceptible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 104 due to temperatures in the mid
  90s, and dewpoints in the upper 60s.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
  outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of high temperatures is
expected. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
