COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BROWNSVILLE TX
950 PM CDT WED OCT 22 2014

...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING POSSIBLE THROUGH THURSDAY...

.SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO WILL
CONTINUE TO INTERACT WITH TROPICAL DEPRESSION NINE OVER THE
SOUTHEASTERN BAY OF CAMPECHE PRODUCING A LONG EAST TO NORTHEAST
FETCH OF MODERATE TO STRONG WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE LOWER TEXAS
GULF WATERS. THESE WINDS WILL MAINTAIN ELEVATED GULF SWELLS THAT
WILL CONTINUE TO PILE UP ON THE LOWER TEXAS COAST FROM THE EAST.
THESE SWELLS WILL COMBINE WITH HIGHER THAN NORMAL ASTRONOMICAL
TIDES TO PRODUCE MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AT THE BEACHES OF SOUTH
PADRE ISLAND AND AT BOCA CHICA BEACH THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AND TIDAL OVERWASH REMAINS POSSIBLE...

* COASTAL FLOODING...BRIEF PERIODS OF OVER WASH WILL BE POSSIBLE
  AROUND HIGH TIDE ON PADRE ISLAND AND BOCA CHICA BEACHES...WITH
  THE GULF WATERS POSSIBLY RUNNING UP TO THE DUNES.

* TIMING...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING IS MOST LIKELY AROUND HIGH
  TIDE... A MINOR HIGH TIDE IS EXPECTED AT THE JETTIES AT 118 AM
  THURSAY WITH THE NEXT FULL HIGH TIDE ALONG THE JETTIES EXPECTED
  AT 455 PM THURSDAY. ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDES ARE PREDICTED TO BE
  BETWEEN 1.0 AND 1.5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

* IMPACTS...THE MINOR COASTAL FLOODING MAY MAKE WALKING ON AREA
  BEACHES AND DRIVING ON THE BEACHES DIFFICULT. AN ELEVATED RIP
  CURRENT RISK IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH THURSDAY. MINOR
  BEACH EROSION MAY OCCUR THROUGH THURSDAY.
