PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE, WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS, JETTIES
AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS, BEACH PATROL FLAGS AND
SIGNS.

SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT, RELAX AND
FLOAT. DON`T SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT. IF ABLE, SWIM IN A
DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE

RUNNING 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE PREDICTED TIDE LEVELS. WITH ASTRONOMICAL
HIGH TIDES EARLY ON FRIDAY BEING ONE HALF TO ONE FOOT ABOVE
PREDICTED LEVELS...COASTAL FLOODING WILL LIKELY OCCUR AGAIN
TONIGHT...WITH WATER LEVELS AT OR ABOVE 2.5 FEET MSL. THE RIP
CURRENT LEVEL SHOULD CONTINUE TO DIMINISH AS WINDS BECOME
SOUTHERLY AND INCREASE LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. AS A
RESULT...THE COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY WILL BE EXTENDED THROUGH MID
AFTERNOON FRIDAY...BUT THE HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK WILL BE ALLOWED

* TIMING...TIDAL OVERFLOW WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT...WITH COASTAL
  FLOODING EXPECTED TO BE THE WORST AROUND HIGH TIDE FRIDAY
  MORNING. WATER LEVELS WILL SLOWLY IMPROVE FRIDAY AFTER HIGH
  TIDE...BUT WATER LEVELS WILL REMAIN ELEVATED AT LEAST INTO THE
  AFTERNOON HOURS. ON FRIDAY...HIGH TIDE AT PORT ARANSAS IS AT 524
  AM CDT...WITH HIGH TIDE AT PORT O`CONNOR AT 1032 AM CDT. THE
  HIGH RIP CURRENT THREAT IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO DIMINISH BY
  THIS EVENING DUE TO A MORE SOUTH WIND WHICH WILL ALSO BE
  INCREASING THIS EVENING.


* IMPACTS...AT 2 TO 2.5 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL...WAVE RUN UP
  WELL INTO THE DUNES WILL OCCUR RESULTING IN LIMITED TO
  IMPOSSIBLE BEACH DRIVING CONDITIONS. SOME BEACH AND ACCESS
  ROADS ARE ALREADY CLOSED...AND MORE WILL LIKELY BE CLOSED. FOR
  THE BAYS AND WATERWAYS...AT AROUND 2 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA
  LEVEL... NORTH BEACH IN CORPUS CHRISTI BAY BEGINS TO FLOOD
  WITH WATER WELL INTO SOME PICNIC AREAS ON THE BEACH. WATER
  CROSSES OVER PORTIONS OF LAGUNA SHORES DRIVE IN FLOUR BLUFF.
  IN ADDITION... STRONG AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING RIP
  CURRENTS WILL OCCUR ALONG GULF FACING BEACHES OF THE MIDDLE
  TEXAS COAST.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

* SURF HEIGHTS...BREAKERS OF 5 TO 8 FEET.

* COASTAL FLOODING...2 TO 3 FEET OF WATER ABOVE NORMALLY DRY
  GROUND CAN BE EXPECTED.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...MODERATE FLOODING IMPACTS ALONG
  COASTAL AREAS...ESPECIALLY OVER LOCATIONS SUCH AS THE WEST END
  OF DAUPHIN ISLAND...SHELL BELT ROAD BETWEEN BAYOU LA BATRE AND
  CODEN AND OTHER AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

* HIGH SURF AND RIP CURRENT IMPACTS...THE SURF WILL BE DANGEROUS
  TO ALL SWIMMERS. FREQUENT LIFE THREATENING RIP CURRENTS ARE
  EXPECTED. MINOR BEACH EROSION IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA, PRODUCING LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION AND
DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS.

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. RIP CURRENTS ARE LIFE-
THREATENING TO ANYONE ENTERING THE SURF. SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD.
IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT REMAIN CALM. DON`T FIGHT THE CURRENT.
SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE,
FACE THE SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP. IF TIRED, FLOAT OR
TREAD WATER UNTIL OUT OF THE RIP CURRENT.

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING THROUGH TONIGHT MEANS THAT FLOODING IS
OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD
BE ALERT FOR RISING WATER, AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY.
