...SNOW RETURNING TO NORTHERN NEW MEXICO NEAR THE COLORADO LINE
TONIGHT...

.A FAST MOVING WEATHER SYSTEM HEADING SOUTH AND EAST ACROSS
NORTHERN NEW MEXICO COMBINED WITH A COLD FRONT PENETRATING INTO
THE NORTHEAST PLAINS WILL CREATE CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR A SWATH
OF FRESH SNOW ACROSS THE NORTHERN SUMMITS OF THE SANGRE DE CRISTO
MOUNTAINS...AND EASTWARD OVER RATON RIDGE AND JOHNSON MESA. THIS
AREA INCLUDES INTERSTATE 25 OVER RATON PASS. AS THE WEATHER
SYSTEM MOVES INTO TEXAS BY MIDDAY THURSDAY...SNOW WILL TAPER OFF
AND END BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING
THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SEVERAL INCHES ACROSS THE SANGRE DE CRISTO
  MOUNTAINS NEAR THE COLORADO BORDER...INCLUDING RATON RIDGE AND
  JOHNSON MESA.

* TIMING...RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON THEN CHANGE
  OVER TO SNOW BY LATE EVENING. SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE
  OVERNIGHT BEFORE TAPERING OFF AROUND MID MORNING THURSDAY.

* WINDS...NORTH AND NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 20 MPH.

* SNOW LEVELS...THE SNOW LEVEL WILL LOWER FROM AROUND 9000 FEET
  LATE THIS AFTERNOON TO 7000 FEET BY MIDNIGHT BEFORE BOTTOMING
  OUT NEAR 5800 FEET AROUND SUNRISE THURSDAY.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...HIGH COUNTRY ROADS MAY BECOME SNOW PACKED AND
  ICY WITH WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS...INCLUDING INTERSTATE 25
  OVER RATON PASS AND HIGHWAY 64 ACROSS THE NORTHERN SANGRE DE
  CRISTO MOUNTAINS.
