COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TALLAHASSEE FL
432 AM EDT FRI APR 18 2014

...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH FOR THE FLORIDA BIG BEND FROM LATE MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF COASTAL FLOODING...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY AND RIP CURRENT RISK THROUGH THIS EVENING ALONG
THE BIG BEND AND PANHANDLE BEACHES...

.WINDS WILL INCREASE AND GRADUALLY VEER FROM EAST TO SOUTH LATER TODAY
AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPS IN THE GULF OF MEXICO AND
TRACKS NORTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE FLORIDA BIG BEND. TIDES ARE LIKELY
TO BE AT LEAST 1 FOOT ABOVE NORMAL...BUT THERE IS THE POTENTIAL
FOR EVEN HIGHER TIDES WHICH COULD LEAD TO COASTAL FLOODING AROUND
THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. MUCH WILL DEPEND ON
THE EXACT TRACK OF THE LOW AND JUST HOW STRONG THE ONSHORE WINDS
BECOME. THIS DATA WILL BE CLOSELY ANALYZED TO SEE IF A COASTAL
FLOOD WARNING IS NEEDED LATER TODAY.

SURF HEIGHTS WILL INCREASE...ESPECIALLY ACROSS WALTON AND BAY
COUNTIES. ALL OF THESE EFFECTS WILL RESULT IN A HIGHER THAN USUAL
CHANCE FOR STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND DANGEROUS SURF THROUGH THIS
EVENING.
