...SNOW AND WIND LIKELY TO CAUSE TRAVEL PROBLEMS TONIGHT AND
FRIDAY MORNING...

.AN INTENSE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE DROPPING SOUTH THROUGH THE
REGION WILL USHER A COLD AIR MASS FROM CENTRAL CANADA INTO THE
AREA. THE COLD AIR WILL ARRIVE ON GUSTY NORTH WINDS. SCATTERED
RAIN SHOWERS GENERATED BY THE DISTURBANCE WILL BEGIN THIS
AFTERNOON. THE RAIN SHOWERS WILL CHANGE TO SNOW EARLY THIS
EVENING. EVEN THOUGH THE UPPER DISTURBANCE WILL PULL OUT OF THE
AREA OVERNIGHT...COLD AIR FLOWING SOUTH ACROSS LAKE SUPERIOR WILL
RESULT IN A CONTINUATION OF THE SNOW SHOWERS THROUGH THE REST OF
TONIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING
TO 11 AM CDT FRIDAY.

* TIMING...SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND
  THEN CHANGE TO SNOW DURING THE EVENING. PERIODS OF SNOW SHOWERS
  WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY...THOUGH THEY SHOULD DIMINISH BY
  AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM
  AROUND 4 INCHES IN THE SNOWBELT TO AN INCH OR TWO ELSEWHERE.

* OTHER IMPACTS...GUSTY NORTH WINDS WILL GENERATE SOME BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING OF THE SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS LIKELY TO
MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND
GUSTY WINDS WILL RESULT IN HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS. GIVEN
THAT THIS IS THE FIRST SUBSTANTIAL WINTER-WEATHER EPISODE OF THE
SEASON...IT MAKE TAKE SOME DRIVERS A LITTLE TIME TO READJUST TO

WHICH WILL MOVE OVER LAKE SUPERIOR AND DEVELOP STRONG NORTHERLY
WINDS. LAKE EFFECT RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF
NORTHWEST WISCONSIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TRANSITION TO LAKE
EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS THIS EVENING. THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW INTENSITY
WILL PEAK OVERNIGHT AND LINGER INTO FRIDAY MORNING. PARTS OF IRON
COUNTY CAN EXPECT SNOWFALL TOTALS BETWEEN 2 AND 4 INCHES. THE
