The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Alenuihaha Channel...
  Big Island Windward Waters...

* Until 845 PM HST

* At 649 PM HST, a strong thunderstorm capable of producing strong
  winds to 40 knots and waterspouts was located near Waimanu Valley,
  moving northeast at 20 knots into the windward coastal waters.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts, Wind gusts to 40 knots, and small hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* The strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters
  windward of the Hamaukua coast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
Wind gusts to 40 knots, small hail, high waves, dangerous lightning,
and heavy rain are possible with this storm.

Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
open water, stay below deck if possible.

  Maui County Windward Waters...
  Oahu Windward Waters...

* Until 815 PM HST

* At 640 PM HST, a strong thunderstorm capable of producing strong
  winds and waterspouts was located near FAD Buoy T, or 22 nm
  northeast of Makapuu Point, moving northeast at 10 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  FAD Buoy T and FAD Buoy MM.

* At 629 PM HST, clusters of strong thunderstorms capable of
  producing strong winds and waterspouts were located from 10 to 40
  nm west of the leeward Big Island coast, moving northeast at 15
  knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
  Honokohau Harbor, FAD Buoy OT, FAD Buoy C, FAD Buoy B, Kawaihae
  Harbor, Keahole Point, FAD Buoy ZZ and FAD Buoy UU.
