...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
  expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Virginia, including the following
  counties, City of Fairfax, City of Manassas, City of Manassas
  Park, Fairfax and Prince William.

* WHEN...Until 300 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
  Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be
  passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 848 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHAT...Nuisance to Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
  lingering.

* WHERE...A portion of western North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Burke and Caldwell.

* WHEN...Until 200 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
  and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
  greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
  parking lots with isolated, shallow flows over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 814 AM EDT, Excessive runoff continued to work through the
    Johns River drainage with lingering flooding within the lower
    reaches of Wilson Creek near Adako Rd, and Johns River from
    near Collettsville to the Chesterfield community.

    Nuisance flooding will continue to lessen along Wilson Creek,
    with the streamgauge at Adako Rd currently 1.2 feet above the
    Action/Advisory Stage of 5.0 feet and falling quickly. Minor
    flooding is still ongoing along the Johns River, with the
    streamgauge at Corpening Bridge Rd 1.9 feet above the Minor
    Flood Stage of 12 feet, likely impacting the lower elevations
    of Corpening Bridge Rd and Old Johns River Rd.  Expect a
    continued falling of river levels along the Johns River
    through the rest of today.

    indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
    begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Jefferson, West Jefferson, Glendale Springs, Laurel Springs,
    Todd, Othello and Wagoner.
  - On the South Fork of the New River at Brownwood, the stage
    was 12.2 feet and slowly rising. At Jefferson the stage was
    7.3 feet and was cresting. The river will crest and begin
    falling by late morning.

* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Flooding begins in the Congaree National
  Park. This will begin to produce flooding of portions of the lower
  boardwalk.
  At 17.0 feet, The access road to the Sandy Run subdivision becomes
  flooded. The lower boardwalk in the Congaree National Park becomes
  flooded by Cedar Creek.
  At 18.0 feet, Several homes in the Sandy Run subdivision along the
  river become flooded. At 18 feet the river covers the Weston Lake
  overlook in the Congaree National Park. Between 18 and 18.5 feet
  the river begins to cover sections of the elevated boardwalk.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 5:00 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 15.7 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 14.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 5:00 AM EDT Tuesday was 15.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.7
    feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
    flood stage early Saturday morning.

  - At 402 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Flooding
    is already occurring in the warned area. Between 2 and 6.5
    inches of rain have fallen.
