.NOW...
Through 7 pm, a boundary that was moving southeastward towards the
Lower Keys in the last hour is now sparking new showers and
thunderstorms. This boundary will continue to slowly move east to
southeast at 5 knots or less towards the Island Chain. In addition,
new showers are forming along a cloud line along the Lower Keys
resulting in additional showers now forming north of Boca Chica to
Big Pine Key. The stronger activity is capable of heavy downpours
reducing visbilities, wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots, and occasional
lightning strikes. On land, Island communities of the Lower Keys may
pick up a few to several tenths of an inch of rainfall with locally
in excess of a quarter inch.
