MST/ FRIDAY...

* TEMPERATURE...HIGHS 110 TO 115 IN THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY AND THE
  MOJAVE DESERT...115 TO 120 IN THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY AND NEAR
  125 FOR DEATH VALLEY ARE EXPECTED. LOW TEMPERATURES ONLY FALLING
  INTO THE UPPER 80S OR LOW 90S FOR MOST OF THE REGION.

* IMPACTS...AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED
  PERIOD OF DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. HEAT
  RELATED ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE WILL
  BE LIKELY. PEOPLE MOST VULNERABLE INCLUDE THOSE WHO ARE
  SPENDING LOTS OF TIME OUTDOORS...THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE AIR
  CONDITIONING...YOUNG CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY...AND THOSE WITH
  CHRONIC AILMENTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DRINK PLENTY OF LIQUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY
OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. IF YOU
PLAN TO BE OUTSIDE...AVOID PROLONGED EXPOSURE OR STRENUOUS
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS IN THE SHADE.
ALCOHOLIC AND CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES SHOULD BE AVOIDED. WEAR LIGHT
WEIGHT...LIGHT COLORED...LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING. YOUNG CHILDREN
AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES UNDER ANY

* TEMPERATURES...HIGH TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 105 TO 110 WITH
  OVERNIGHT LOWS NEAR 80.

* IMPACTS...THIS PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE HEAT WILL INCREASE THE
  LIKELIHOOD OF HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE HOT TEMPERATURES

  COULD BE FATAL.

NEVER LEAVE KIDS OR PETS UNATTENDED IN CARS. DRINK MORE WATER
THAN USUAL AND AVOID ALCOHOL...SUGAR...AND CAFFEINE. WHEN
OUTDOORS...WEAR LIGHT COLORED CLOTHING AND A WIDE-BRIMMED HAT TO
KEEP YOUR HEAD AND BODY COOLER. TAKE FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN

SERIOUS SYMPTOMS INCLUDE WEAKNESS...SKIN THAT IS COOL TO THE
TOUCH...FAST BUT WEAK PULSE...NAUSEA...AND FAINTING. SEVERE
SYMPTOMS INCLUDE HOT AND RED DRY SKIN...FAST AND STRONG PULSE...
SWEATING THAT HAS STOPPED...AND UNCONSCIOUSNESS. UNTREATED HEAT
ILLNESS CAN LEAD TO FATAL HEAT STROKE.

STAY COOL...STAY HYDRATED...STAY INFORMED.

LEVELS. DAY HIKERS ON BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL SHOULD DESCEND NO
FURTHER THAN 1 1/2 MILES. BETWEEN 10 AM AND 4 PM...PHYSICAL
ACTIVITY IS DISCOURAGED. HIKERS SHOULD ATTEMPT TO BE OUT OF THE
CANYON...AT INDIAN GARDEN OR BRIGHT ANGEL CAMPGROUND BETWEEN
