.A warm and dry airmass will continue over New Mexico today.
Winds will increase sharply while humidities lower, resulting in
critical fire weather conditions over portions of west-northwest

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag
Warning...which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM MDT this
evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...Northwest Plateau and Highlands. Critical
  conditions will develop early this afternoon and continue into
  early this evening.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 to 45
  mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...lowering to 10 to 15 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

eastern panhandle, western sandhills into southwestern Nebraska
this afternoon. As highs reach the upper 80s to lower 90s, dry
southwesterly winds will produce relative humidity around 15
percent this afternoon and early evening. The combination of wind
and low relative humidity will allow any fires which may develop
to spread rapidly and get out of control.

...Critical to Extreme Fire Weather Conditions this afternoon into
the early evening hours...

.West to southwest winds will increase ahead of a cold front.
Gusts to 50 mph will be possible over the higher terrain with
gusts from 30 to 40 mph at lower elevations. These winds combined
with relative humidity values of 8 to 15 percent will result in
extreme fire weather conditions in places. Winds are expected to
shift to the north this evening as a cold front pushes through.
Relative humidities are expected to rapidly improve behind the
cold front.
