Issued at 406 AM EDT Fri May 24 2024 With the exception of a few waxing and waning showers well to the north of the Lower Keys early this morning, weather conditions will continue to remain unremarkable through the end of the week. Skies will continue to be mostly clear with only some benign clouds skirting across the sky as high temperatures during the day climb to near 90F. East to southeasterly breezes near 5 mph won`t offer much relief from the seasonably warm temperatures, but dew point temperatures in the lower 70s will help to keep the heat index from soaring into the triple digits like we have already seen this month. The synoptic pattern will make some changes when the dominant ridging pattern tries to reposition itself over the course of the beginning of the week, including the Memorial Day holiday. The resulting weather conditions will not see much of a change on Sunday, but chances for showers and thunderstorms are reintroduced for Monday through Thursday. The chance of any activity is still low, 10 percent on Monday and 20 percent from Tuesday onward, but all it takes is one shower to put a damper on holiday activities. Another aspect of the forecast for next week is guidance suggesting that dew points start to climb again into the middle and possibly upper 70s. This is not anything set in stone yet, but this could lead to sweltering and dangerous heat indices once again.
