(This evening through Wednesday night) Issued at 337 PM CDT Mon May 20 2024 An upper level ridge is currently centered over central Mexico just southwest of Brownsville Texas. The axis of this high currently extends northeastward to the southern periphery of the Great Lakes. It will suppress southward the next couple days as an upper level trough currently moving through the Rockies tracks northeastward across the Northern Plains. More locally, this will bring higher 500mb heights overhead as the ridge axis becomes draped right across the CWA. This will keep rain chances out of the forecast and maintain temperatures well above normal with highs and lows well into summer category. MEFFER

(Thursday through Sunday night) Issued at 337 PM CDT Mon May 20 2024 Like the near-term, really not much to talk about in the extended portion of the forecast. High pressure will maintain hot and rainless conditions. Temperatures will creep up a few degrees from today which may approach records in some locations. At the moment, it doesn`t appear that dewpoints will be high enough to support heat indicies anywhere near heat advisory, but should at least exceed 100 late this week. The ridge will continue to be suppressed southward as another trough tracks across the mid Mississippi River Valley this weekend. That`ll eventually allow for some afternoon convection but currently doesn`t look like that`ll happen until sometime next week. MEFFER

(18Z TAFS) Issued at 337 PM CDT Mon May 20 2024 Clear skies and light winds through the period will lead to no appreciable impacts for most terminals. A few such as KMCB, KBTR, and KASD may see MVFR visibilities tomorrow morning as light fog will be possible. Otherwise, VFR will dominate the forecast. MEFFER

Issued at 337 PM CDT Mon May 20 2024 A fairly benign period of weather is expected over the coastal waters through the end of the week as a broad ridge of high pressure dominates the region. A persistent southeasterly wind of around 10 knots and relatively calm seas of 1 to 3 feet are expected through the end of the week. The high pressure system over the area will also keep thunderstorm development at bay, so no waterspout, lightning, or localized gusty winds are anticipated through Friday. Overall, a great week for boating activities is on tap. PG
