FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... The marine layer depth was 3000 feet on this mornings 12Z NKX sounding, 500 feet deeper than 24 hours ago, deep enough for more widespread drizzle this morning than yesterday morning. Drizzle was most widespread in northwestern San Diego County and in southern Orange County where Camp Pendleton picked up 0.02", and Oceanside, Carlsbad and Mission Viejo had 0.01". Low clouds will do another slow burn back to the coast today, clearing from some but not all of the beaches this afternoon. Skies will be clear over the mountains and deserts. Weak troughing over West this weekend and a Catalina Eddy over the SoCal coastal waters will keep the marine layer deep enough for areas of drizzle west of the mountains each morning through Monday. Clouds will clear back to the coast but complete clearing at all of the beaches in unlikely. High temperatures today, Sunday and Monday will range from 65-72 near the coast, from 72-82 from in the inland areas, from 70-80 in the mountains, the low 90s in the high deserts, and from 100-105 in the low deserts. Gusty westerly winds will impact the mountains and deserts each afternoon and evening. From next Tuesday through Friday a 592 dm upper ridge builds over Nevada, Utah, Arizona and eastern California. This pattern will bring hotter days to the deserts, and warmer days west of the mountains. Highs from Wednesday through Friday will range from 105- 112 in the lower deserts, and 100-105 in the high deserts. Mountain highs will be in the 80s. The eastern Inland Empire will also feel some of this heat with highs from 90-96 Wednesday and Thursday. The coastal areas and the western valleys will be not see quite as much warming as temperatures will be moderated by cool onshore flow and a marine layer that will shrink but not disappear entirely. Coastal highs will be near 70, with highs near 80 just a few miles inland.
