A fire growing pattern will commence today through Sunday with critical fire weather conditions for parts of the forecast area each day. A backdoor front will sag into the eastern plains with a gusty wind shift tonight, and cooler temperatures there Friday. Winds will weaken on Friday, but they will probably remain strong enough for another round of widespread critical fire weather conditions across the northeast highlands, where gusty virga showers will also be possible north of Las Vegas to the Colorado border in the afternoon. Winds look to strengthen areawide on Saturday, then remain strong Sunday mainly across eastern areas. A ridge of high pressure will cross Monday with lighter winds.
