...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

.Heavy rainfall that is forecast to fall tonight into this weekend
will produce rises on the Cahaba River. However, levels are expected
to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow along the
river should be of minor nature.


The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
* At 9:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 4.4 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above action stage on
  Sunday evening and continue to rise and crest near 17.0 feet
  Monday morning.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture
  lands increases at stages above 20 feet.


Another statement will be issued by Friday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
