.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Dry conditions are forecast
today with well above normal temperatures likely. Near record
setting highs are possible across the plains. Daytime humidity
will fall to as low as 13-17 percent across the urban corridor an
adjacent plains, with 15-25% RH likely across the rest of the
forecast area. Winds will generally remain light today, though
a few gusts up to 20-25 mph will be possible across North Park
this afternoon. Smoke dispersal is expected to be fair to good
across the eastern plains, with good to excellent dispersal
forecast over the I-25 corridor and higher elevations.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday through Monday...Above normal
temperatures and dry weather will continue through the long term
period. Each day, minimum relative humidity will drop to the teens
across the plains, lower foothills, and mountain valleys. Winds
will be light enough on Friday and Saturday that no critical fire
weather conditions are expected. By Sunday, winds may increase
with gusts up to 20-25 mph across the plains. This will lead to
elevated fire weather conditions. A cold front with gusty winds up
to 40 mph may move through the area on Monday. Elevated fire
weather conditions could develop for a short time when the front
moves across. During the middle of next week, there may be pockets
of elevated to critical fire weather conditions as warm, dry, and
windy conditions are forecast especially across the foothills and
mountain valleys. Smoke dispersal will be fair to good on Friday
and Saturday and will be very good to excellent next week.
