VFR through the TAF period. Drainage flow is slowly establishing
and should continue overnight. Less certainty in the wind forecast
Thursday as winds gradually turn to the west through the morning
hours, with a second wind shift to more of a WNW later in the
afternoon or evening. Could see a few gusts to 25kt during the
evening hours as well. Beyond that, a cold front is expected to
push towards the terminals close to 06z with another wind shift to
the north/northeast, but with lighter speeds. No ceiling or
visibility concerns are anticipated.

VFR conditions and dry weather are expected across the TAF
sites this period, with only passing mid and high clouds
expected at this time. Lighter winds in place early this morning
will steadily increase through the day, with southwest to west
winds/gusts in place this afternoon. Strongest gusts in the
upper 20kt to around 30 kt range likely at all sites. A light
west wind will remain in place in the evening for ALS, while a
front pushes south across COS and PUB. Lower ceilings are not
likely at this time, though a few northerly gusts are possible.

A passing disturbance to our north will bring some
midlevel ceilings tomorrow afternoon and evening mainly for
KASE, KRIL, and KEGE. Despite the clouds, VFR conditions will
remain in place. Of more concern will be gusty surface winds of
25 to 35 mph, maybe a bit higher at times starting around 18Z,
give or take, and persisting through 03Z.

northwest. Gusts around 25 knots are likely for a few hours once the
front pushes through. Isolated showers near the front could bring
gusty, erratic outflow winds. Northwest winds will prevail through
the day with clouds decreasing.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Southwest winds will decrease
through the evening. A cold front will track into northern Utah and
southwest Wyoming, bringing broken to overcast ceilings with
isolated showers through around 09Z. Showers could bring gusty,
erratic outflow winds. Winds will transition to northwest with the
boundary, with gusts around 25 knots for a few hours behind it. The
front will track across southern Utah from roughly 09-12Z. Mostly
clear, dry conditions are likely throughout southern Utah, but
northwest winds will gust around 25 knots.

The next weather system continues to approach Wyoming tonight with
moderate to heavy precipitation impacting the western part of the
state. Rain has turned over to snow at KJAC and should remain IFR
through 07-08Z as the area of precip moves northeast. A mid-level
cold front will move west to east overnight, bringing snow and rain
to KBPI and KPNA between 06-12Z/Thu. A low chance of showers is
possible at KRKS around sunrise too, not enough to mention in the
TAF though. Behind the cold front, surface winds will increase from
the west and gust 30-40 kts at most sites through the day Thursday.
As the storm center moves across the middle of the state, wrap-
around precipitation with SW then NW winds will bring showers to
KJAC during the middle of the day. And then as the storm center
moves to eastern WY in the afternoon, a surface cold front will push
southward into the Bighorn Basin to bring MVFR/IFR conditions to
KCOD and KWRL with gusty north winds and rain turning to snow. The
cold front will push into central WY around 00Z/Fri for 1-2 hours of
gusty north winds at KRIW/KLND/KCPR and a 30 percent chance of light
showers. Some east winds then push into KRKS just before 06Z/Fri.
The mountains will be mostly obscured for the TAF period with
moderate snow in the west-central mountains tonight, and moderate
snow over the Bighorns from early morning through sunset Thu.

VFR conditions expected at TAF sites through at least the first
part of the TAF period, but expect significant impacts to
aircraft operations from low level wind shear, gusty surface
winds, and potentially severe thunderstorms.
Will be dealing with significant low level wind shear across
central and western Nebraska early in this TAF period as a
robust low level jet becomes established. There may be enough
mixing to get some gusts to the surface before daybreak, but
winds aloft will generally be 45 to 50kt form the south. Once
diurnal heating mixes the boundary layer after daybreak the low
level jet will diminish but surface winds will become gusty
with 25 to 30kt expected into the afternoon.
Currently there appears to be potential for 2 separate triggers
for convection, first with a dryline and then with a cold front.
Any storms with the dryline will have potential to be discrete,
individual cells with very large hail and strong gusty winds.
As the cold front overtakes the dryline and becomes the dominant
driver of convection, storms are expected to develop into a
linear complex that may produce very strong winds and large hail
as it moves from central into eastern Nebraska. Storm initiation
may occur along or just west of Highway 83, though confidence
in exact timing and locations is not high. Will use VCTS at KVTN
for the 3 hour period where thunderstorms are most likely, and

periods of best potential for thunderstorms with the dryline
followed by thunderstorms along/ahead of the approaching cold
front. All convection with a return to VFR looks like a good bet
by the end of the valid period as convection pushes off to the
east and southeast.

KGLD...VFR conditions are expected through the period.
South-southeast winds of 12-15kts with some higher gusts are
anticipated from taf issuance through sunrise. From 12z-00z,
southerly winds will slowly veer to the southwest, gusting up to
30kts. After 01z, winds are currently forecast to quickly shift
to the northwest with gusts up to 35kts as a cold front moves
through. Presently, no precipitation is anticipated.
KMCK...VFR conditions are expected through the period. A
southeast wind up to 10kts is forecast from taf issuance through
13z. From 14z-00z, southerly winds gusting up to 30kts are
forecast. After 01z, winds are currently forecast to quickly
shift to the northwest with gusts up to 30kts as a cold front
moves through. At this time, confidence is too low to pinpoint
when/if the terminal would see showers/thunderstorms in the
vicinity or over the terminal. Presently, it appears the 23z-03z
timeframe would have the best chance based on the latest data.

Southeast winds early on in this 06Z TAF period are expected to
temporarily bring in some low levle moisture. In doing so, KAMA
could see some low level clouds this morning between 10Z and 14Z.
After 14Z winds will shift to the southwest under a surface trough
and push the higher moisture out to the east creating a dryline
that should lay up somewhere around the TX/OK state line. This
will leave the rest the combined Panhandles in VFR conditions
behind the dryline through the rest of the TAF period. Breezy
winds will also be to the west of the dryline with speeds as high
as 20 kts gusting 30kts out of the southwest for all three
terminals after 18Z.
