Generally light southwesterly winds will remain through the
morning and begin to increase between 17Z - 19Z with gusts up to
30 mph possible. After roughly 21Z, some passing showers are
likely over all airports. These are expected to be high based
showers that could produce some gusty outflows up to 40 mph.
Ceilings are expected to lower to roughly 8000 feet during this
time, however, should remain above VFR conditions. The
possibility for showers and gusty winds may linger through the
evening then a more westerly flow will begin. There is a chance
that W/WNW winds will develop Sunday morning and may become
increasingly stronger for a few hours as a mountain wave develops,
but uncertainties still remain at this time.

.AVIATION...KSLC...A disturbance and associated cold front will
sweep across the terminal this afternoon bringing a myriad of
impacts. First, gusty S winds (15-25kts) anticipated this morning
with showers in the vicinity. Line of showers with embedded
thunder expected to move across the terminal between 17Z-20Z,
complete with gusty, erratic outflow winds, lightning and perhaps
small hail. Can`t rule out brief reductions to MVFR (25% chance)
with a 10%, with a chance for brief IFR conditions. In the wake of
this wave, isolated to scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms linger through about 03Z. Wind direction forecast is
highly uncertain after 18Z due to the shower/storm activity, but
confidence increases in the emergence of S winds around 02Z.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Disturbance and associated
cold front will move across Utah and SW Wyoming this afternoon. In
advance of these features, band of showers will continue across
central and NE Utah this morning, with pockets of mountain
obscuration. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms will then move
across central and northern Utah as well as SW Wyoming later this
morning through the afternoon hours. This activity will produce
gusty, erratic outflow winds, brief reductions in CIG/VIS to the IFR
category, lightning and small hail. This activity will gradually
diminish this evening, leaving tranquil conditions overnight.

VFR conditions for all TAF sites to start the period. Light
winds and mid level clouds throughout the CWA as an approaching
system comes in from the southwest. Afternoon thunderstorms and
gusty winds expected for most between around 20-01Z with less
confidence at WRL, RIW, and LND not carrying a tempo for TSRA at
this time. With thunderstorms on station will come possible
MVFR ceilings around 2500` IAW BUFKIT soundings and forecast LCL
heights. Otherwise, any activity should end by 01Z towards
sunset and radiational cooling overnight. Light winds and mid
level clouds continue through the end of the period with no
other weather elements expected at this time.

Showers will be on the increase this morning across southeast
Wyoming that will spread into the Nebraska Panhandle through the
afternoon. Followed RAP simulated radar guidance on timing of
onset of showers. Most airports will stay VFR today. Am
concerned with KRWL going down to IFR tonight as suggested by
latest HRRR guidance. Panhandle airports stand the best chance
of seeing TS this afternoon...so added VCTS into their TAFs.

continue for an hour or two after daybreak with a low level jet
dissipating over central Nebraska. Otherwise, expect VFR
conditions with light winds at the surface through early this
morning. There may be a few sprinkles around from some mid
clouds but looking at observations under current radar echoes do
not see much in the way of any precipitation reaching the
ground so will maintain dry conditions and amend if necessary.
Winds will become gusty as diurnal heating mixes the boundary
layer this morning with gusts to 30kt at KLBF but a bit lower at
KVTN. Expect widely scattered showers and thunderstorms to
develop late in the day and will use VCTS for a couple of hours
toward 00Z before returning to dry VFR conditions by the end of
the valid period. Probabilities for some low clouds and fog are
quite high across northern/eastern Nebraska so will include at
KVTN toward the end of the valid period where confidence is
high, but keep out of KLBF where confidence is not yet high
enough.

For KGLD... VFR conditions are forecast through the period with
LLWS continuing until 14-15Z. The main potential concerns are
the possibility of storms around 20-22Z (15% chance) and the
wind shift with the cold front around 01-03Z. LLWS could occur
at the end of the period, but winds are currently not forecast
to be stronger than 30 kts within the lowest few thousand feet
behind the front.
For KMCK... VFR conditions are forecast through the period,
though LLWS will continue until 14-15Z and storms are forecast
around 00Z. The storms have a 50% chance of occurring and should
form a few counties west of the terminal before moving east into
the terminal. These storms could be severe with damaging wind
gusts, large hail, and possibly a tornado. Otherwise, winds will
shift to out of the north behind the cold front with a low
chance for LLWS.

VFR flying conditions this TAF cycle for all terminals. Winds
have begun to increase out of the southeast and will continue
until they reach the 18-23 kt range with gusts of 28-33 kts by
mid-morning. These winds will persist through 00Z when a gradual
weakening trend will commence owing to the loss of boundary
layer mixing. Late in the period, winds will begin to veer to
southwest/westerly then northwesterly as a cold front moves
through southwest KS.

The jetstream will move over NM this morning, then linger
overhead through the day, with strong winds areawide. Winds will
begin gusting out of the southwest in the morning, then the wind
direction will shift out of the west and northwest during the
afternoon and evening as a Pacific cold front crosses from the
west. Blowing dust should develop in many lower elevation
locations east of the central mountain chain, and also around
Carrizozo. Some of the worst dust should occur across the Chaves
County plains where some open fields are notorious dust producers.
Vigorous thermals will also develop over eastern areas, where
high temperatures will climb as much as 7 degrees above 1991-2020
averages. The Indios Fire near Gallinas Peak and the Blue 2 Fire
in the northern Sacramento Mountains are expected to flare up with
well-developed smoke plumes stretching toward the northeast this
afternoon, then toward the east this evening. The Blue 2 Fire`s
plume will probably expand rapidly during mid-to-late morning, and
continue into the late night hours near and southwest of the
fire; including over KSRR where an MVFR or low VFR ceiling is
likely late tonight with a risk of visibility reduction as well.
