...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southwestern Linn,
northern Iowa, Benton and northwestern Johnson Counties through 345
AM CDT...

At 301 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Meskwaki Casino to near Ladora. Movement
was northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could cause minor tree limb damage and blow
         around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects
         is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Marengo, Marion, Hiawatha, Belle Plaine,
Fairfax, Atkins, Walford, Dysart, Palo, Shellsburg, Victor, Newhall,
Blairstown, Van Horne, Keystone, Norway, Garrison, and Ladora.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 207 and 217.
 Interstate 380 between mile markers 15 and 24.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to localized flooding.
Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
