Issued at 1221 PM MDT Mon May 20 2024 Warm, very dry, and breezy afternoons will continue each day through the weekend. High temperatures will stay near or just below average. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1221 PM MDT Mon May 20 2024 A shortwave will slide over the Borderland this afternoon and evening allowing for breezy winds this afternoon and high clouds. A pacific cool front associated with this shortwave will push into western areas as early as 6/7PM tonight, exiting the CWA by a bit after midnight tonight. Low end northwesterly breezes possible with the frontal passage. Temperatures will dip only a handful of degrees for Tuesdays high temperatures. Clouds dissolve revealing clearing skies for much of the area Tuesday morning. Breezy winds will persist each afternoon along with dry conditions lasting through the weekend. Elevated fire weather conditions will continue through at least the work week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1141 AM MDT Mon May 20 2024 VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period with FEW-SCT250. Breezy west winds will continue to increase and will reach it`s peak around 21-00Z before tapering off for the evening. Winds are expected to continue low end breezes (10-15KT) from 03-06Z due to a pacific cold front pushing in from the west this evening and into the overnight hours. The front will shift west winds to the northwest. KTCS and KDMN can expect the front to arrive around 02Z with KELP and KLRU seeing the front by 03-04Z. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1221 PM MDT Mon May 20 2024 A pacific cold front will push in from the west early tonight and will progress eastward through the early hours on Tuesday. Winds will shift from the west to the northwest after the frontal passage. Moisture associated with the front will bump up max RHs into the 30-50% range west of the Rio Grande Valley and 20-40% east of the Rio Grande. Tuesday will feature a continuation of critical min RHs and breezy afternoon winds and will persist through at least the work week. Fuels continue to dry and min RHs will stay below critical thresholds through the foreseeable future. Breezy winds are expected to stay below or just below critical thresholds allowing for elevated fire weather conditions to persist each day.
