THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Near critical fire weather conditions will develop today across the
region, with a 20% chance of critical fire weather conditions
developing within the Red River Valley into eastern North Dakota.

South winds will increase to 25 to 40 mph over eastern North Dakota
and western Minnesota. Gusts to 45 mph possible in the northern Red
River valley this afternoon.   Very warm today with highs in the
80s.  Dew points will likely lower into the mid to upper 40s in
southeast into east central North Dakota and parts of northwest
Minnesota this afternoon.  Combined with the warm temperatures and
gusty winds, near critical fire weather conditions may develop as RH
values drop to as low as 25 to 30 percent.

While near critical fire weather is expected, the chance of seeing
critical fire weather conditions is limited due to the highest winds
being displaced to the north of the lowest RH values. Therefore, the
probability of seeing critical fire weather is 20%.

As a weak cold front pushes through tonight, winds will shift to the
northwest, diminishing to under 10 knots by Friday morning. Warm and
dry weather will continue through the weekend.
