196 WGUS82 KGSP 240024 FLSGSP Flood Advisory National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC 824 PM EDT Thu May 23 2024 NCC025-159-240315- /O.NEW.KGSP.FA.Y.0084.240524T0024Z-240524T0315Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Cabarrus NC-Rowan NC- 824 PM EDT Thu May 23 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northeast Cabarrus County and extreme southeastern Rowan County in North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 1115 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 814 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated torrential rain due to slow-moving thunderstorms over the Dutch Buffalo Creek watershed from Cold Hill south to Mt Pleasant and the confluence of the Rocky River near NC 200. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen over the past 60 minutes. Resultant excess runoff may result in nuisance flooding across the Advisory area. The areas of primary concern include along Jennie Wolf Creek near Gold Hill Rd, Klutz Rd, Cline School Rd, and Sisk Carter Rd. An additional 1-2 inches of rain may occur, primarily in Cabarrus County near and south of Mount Pleasant. This may exacerbate ongoing flooding and will likely cause new flooding to develop, especially along and near Dutch Buffalo Creek including along Adams Creek near Mt Pleasant Rd, as well as poor-drainage areas within the town of Mt. Pleasant. Avoid all area streams and flooded roadways. - Nuisance flooding may occur near or within the following locations... Rockwell, Mt Pleasant and Gold Hill. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
