...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHERN HABERSHAM...RABUN AND
SOUTHEASTERN MACON COUNTIES THROUGH 1030 AM EDT...
At 959 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 10 miles north of Clayton to 11 miles southeast
of Hiawassee. Movement was east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Clayton, Highlands, Mountain City, Tiger, Dillard, Sky Valley,
Tallulah Falls, Lake Rabun, Lake Burton, and Lakemont.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
