...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL MCDOWELL...SOUTHEASTERN
MITCHELL AND SOUTHEASTERN YANCEY COUNTIES THROUGH 215 PM EDT...

At 143 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles southwest of Spruce Pine, or 6 miles northeast of B.R.
Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville. This storm was nearly
stationary.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Spruce Pine, Blue Ridge Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville,
North Cove, Busick, Celo, Little Switzerland, Woodlawn, and
Micaville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
