.KEY MESSAGES...
1. Strong, gusty west winds are expected in the Mojave Desert
Slopes this afternoon into early Thursday morning.

2. A cooling trend is anticipated Thursday through Saturday.

3. A few strong thunderstorms are possible in the Sierra Nevada
Friday afternoon.

4. Strong, gusty west winds are conceivable in the Mojave Desert
Slopes each afternoon and evening Thursday through Saturday.

.DISCUSSION...
An upper-level area of low pressure will drop southward into the
Pacific Northwest today. West wind gusts near 50 mph are
expected in the Mojave Desert Slopes this afternoon into early
Thursday morning. A Wind Advisory is in effect. The
aforementioned cyclone aloft will move eastward across the Great
Plains Thursday. A trough of low pressure will pass over Central
California Friday. This trough of low pressure may provide
enough lift for thunderstorm development in the Sierra Nevada
Friday afternoon. The trough of low pressure will move eastward
across the Central United States Saturday. Strong, gusty west
winds are possible in the Mojave Desert Slopes each afternoon
and evening Thursday through Saturday. A Wind Advisory may be
required. A ridge of high pressure will slowly build over the
Western United States Sunday through Tuesday.

High temperatures this afternoon will be around five degrees
above normal for this time of year. A cooling trend is expected
Thursday through Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, maximum
temperatures will be about five degrees below seasonal values. A
warming trend is expected Sunday through Tuesday. By Tuesday
afternoon, high temperatures will be around five degrees above
normal for this time of year. Here are probabilities of maximum

San Joaquin Valley on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024:
