Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
252 AM CDT Tue May 21 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Despite shallow mixing heights, southerly transport winds near 30
kt this afternoon will result in excellent vent rates.
Thunderstorms will roll across the area tonight, producing
torrential rain, strong winds, and possibly a couple tornadoes
mainly west of the Illinois River. Behind a cold front, fuels will
have a chance to dry north of I-72 on Wednesday, while south of
I-70 there is a 60 to 70% chance of another wetting rain. 30-50%
thunderstorm chances return Thursday and linger through the
upcoming weekend.
