...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN RAPIDES...NORTH CENTRAL
EVANGELINE AND NORTHWESTERN AVOYELLES PARISHES THROUGH 130 PM CDT...

At 1242 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Elmer, or 8 miles east of Hineston, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Alexandria, Bunkie, Glenmora, Cheneyville, Hineston, Lecompte, Echo,
Otis, Elmer, Poland, Kolin, Gardner, Centerpoint, Ruby, Calcasieu,
Woodworth, Forest Hill, Mcnary, and Union Hill.

This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 53 and 83.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
