040 FZUS63 KMKX 210203 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 903 PM CDT Mon May 20 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... A compact area of low pressure averaging around 29.8 inches continues to push east over Lake Michigan and will see winds gradually turn westerly overnight. Then as a warm front lift northward, expecting winds to turn more south to southeasterly Tuesday morning into the afternoon ahead of a deepening low pressure around 29.4 inches. Stronger south to southwesterly winds will persist as the low is progged to lift into the Upper Great Lakes region through Wednesday before weakening heading into the end of the week. There continues to be the potential for periods of thunderstorms over the lake, especially southern portions Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
