757 FXUS66 KMFR 271520 AFDMFR Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Medford OR 820 AM PDT Mon May 27 2024 .DISCUSSION...Satellite image shows clear skies over most of the forecast area. The only exception is marine stratus from Cape Blanco north into the Coquille Basin, northwest Douglas county and in and around Brookings. The marine stratus will gradually burn off this morning with clear skies in the afternoon. We took a closer look at the thunderstorm potential later this afternoon and evening east of the Cascades and northern Cal and it still exist, but it could end up bring more ofthe exception and not the rule. Meaning a few isolated storms are possible, but odds are we`ll just have some building cumulus in these areas. Some fine tuning of the slight chance of thunderstorms were made for this afternoon and evening, otherwise the coverage area looks pretty good given what were seeing from the most current data. Any storms will dissipate early this evening with dry weather likely for tonight. -Petrucelli && .AVIATION...27/12Z TAFs...VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period for most areas. The exception will be along the coast and just offshore from Cape Blanco north, Coquille Basin, and around Brookings where the marine stratus will persist this morning. The marine stratus should burn off towards 18z inland, but it could hold on along the coast beyond 18z, although ceilings should improve to VFR by then and lasting into this evening. Expect the typical uptick in afternoon breezes this afternoon. -Hermansen/Petrucelli && .MARINE...Updated 800 AM Monday, May 27, 2024...Relatively calm conditions will continue through Tuesday. Expect some locally gusty north winds (15 to 20 kt) south of Cape Blanco within 20 nm from shore through this afternoon. Otherwise, relatively light winds and seas are expected, and a weak upper trough will bring some slight (10-25%) chances for showers north of Cape Blanco on Tuesday. An upper ridge will build on Wednesday and remain in place through the rest of the week with a strong thermal trough developing. This will bring increasing north winds, with conditions hazardous to small craft likely for all areas by Thursday. Strong north winds may reach gales (50-90% chance) south of Cape Blanco, with the highest chance for locations south of Gold Beach. Gusty winds and steep to very steep and hazardous seas are likely through the end of the week. Conditions may improve over the weekend. /BR-y/Hermansen && .MFR WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
