376 FLCA42 TJSJ 200827 HWOSJU Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service San Juan PR 427 AM AST Mon May 20 2024 AMZ711>745-PRZ001>013-210830- San Juan and Vicinity-Northeast-Southeast-Eastern Interior- North Central-Central Interior-Ponce and Vicinity-Northwest- Western Interior-Mayaguez and Vicinity-Southwest-Culebra-Vieques- The nearshore and off shore Atlantic and Caribbean Coastal Waters- 427 AM AST Mon May 20 2024 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight .Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible across western sections during the afternoon. Be aware of thunderstorms in your area and be prepared to take shelter. .Excessive Rainfall...Ponding of water in roads and poorly drained areas across the interior to western sections during the afternoon. Urban and small streams flooding is possible. .Excessive Heat...Heat index 108-111 degrees across all coastal areas of mainland PR and the smaller islands. Heat exhaustion likely with prolonged exposure. Heat stroke possible. .Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone particularly southwestern beaches during the afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday Hot temperatures will continue through at least Tuesday as winds continue from the south with clearer skies. On Wednesday onward a deep layered trough moving across the Caribbean Basin will cause conditions to deteriorate with heavy showers and thunderstorms across most of the area. Flooding remains the greatest threat throughout this time. On Wednesday night through Thursday winds will strengthen, bringing hazardous marine conditions for the southwestern regional waters and a moderate risk of rip currents for most beaches. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
