However, levels are expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature. The Tallapoosa River at The Tallapoosa Water Plant. * At 6:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 12.0 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 25.0 feet. * Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.7 feet tomorrow morning. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Low areas near the junction with the Coosa River begin to overflow. Extensive flooding of low lying areas begins between US 231 and the river at stages of 15 to 25 feet. The Tallapoosa River at Milstead. * At 6:30 AM CDT Friday the stage was 15.0 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 40.0 feet. * Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.6 feet this evening. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Overflow of pasture lands occurs. Cattle may need to be moved if higher stages are forecast. Another statement will be issued by Saturday morning, or sooner if conditions warrant. It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 48 hours.
