991 FNUS53 KDLH 021913 FWFDLH Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin National Weather Service Duluth MN 213 PM CDT Sun Jun 2 2024 .DISCUSSION... An incoming warm front late this afternoon and through the evening brings increasing chances for strong thunderstorms to north-central Minnesota first before spreading into northeast Minnesota in the late evening to early overnight hours today. Even better chances of strong and severe thunderstorms builds in after 21-2300 LT this evening from west to east as a line of storms first enters north- central Minnesota and may produce a line of damaging wind gusts to 70 mph and large hail into the early overnight hours. Large hail is also a concern mainly in the Brainerd Lakes region as well. There are very high chances (70-80%) for at least a tenth of an inch of rainfall from this evening into Monday morning. As the thunderstorms weaken into northwest Wisconsin early Monday morning, expect only a hazard of wind gusts to 40 mph and locally heavy rainfall. Isolated to scattered rain showers Monday daytime may produce a localized tenth of an inch of rainfall in the afternoon and evening. After a night of dense fog Monday night into Tuesday morning, the next chance of severe weather builds into the Northland districts Tuesday daytime. There are chances of large hail and localized damaging wind gusts expected by the midday hours and lasting into the evening hours Tuesday. Another one-half to one inch of rainfall is also forecast for Tuesday. Localized showers and thunderstorm chances (20-40%) last into the end of this week. Day 6-10 and 8-14 temperature and precipitation outlooks favor a drier weather pattern setting up helping to produce slightly below-normal temperatures for next week (the second full week of June).
