.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 241 AM EDT Tue Mar 17 2026

Dry conditions will persist through the short term, though
temperatures will remain chilly for mid-March as northwest flow
persists aloft. Northwest winds will be on the breezy side again
today, especially as mixing increases by late morning, with gusts 20-
25 mph through the afternoon. Highs will only top out in the 40s
across most of north Georgia and lower 50s across the bulk of
central Georgia despite plenty of sun. Tonight will bring one more
bout of widespread freezing temperatures as the surface high shifts
eastward across the Appalachians. Another Freeze Warning is in
effect areawide tonight into Wednesday morning as lows will drop
into the 20s and low 30s.

Wednesday kicks off an extended warming trend as southerly low-level
flow returns in the wake of the eastward-departing surface high.
Even so, highs will remain in the 50s, some 10-15 degrees below
normal. Widespread high clouds and virga will also increase on
Wednesday as a transient clipper swings through the region, though
the very moisture-starved low levels will prevent any threat of
precipitation.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Monday)
Issued at 241 AM EDT Tue Mar 17 2026

Dry and Warmer Late Week Into The Weekend:

From Thursday through the upcoming weekend, a very strong ridge
over the Southwest US will start to slowly slide east and spread
into our area, finally kicking out the cold airmass. High
temperatures will return to the 60s on Thursday, 70s on Friday,
and 80s over the weekend. Morning lows will climbing back up to
the 40s by Friday, and 50s over the weekend. Between the dry
northwest mid-level flow and subsidence from the ridge, rain
chances will remain below 10% through at least Sunday.
