.SYNOPSIS...

Hurricane Helene continues to travel northward through the Gulf of
Mexico and is expected to strengthen to a Major hurricane as it
accelerates towards the Panhandle of Florida on today.
Southeasterly winds will gradually strengthen to reach tropical
storm strength by this morning over area waters, lingering at
these levels into Friday. The tropical system will begin to move
away from the area sometime on Friday. Conditions subside below
small craft levels this weekend.

.TODAY...Tropical storm conditions expected. Southeast winds
25 to 30 knots, increasing to 30 to 40 knots with gusts up to
50 knots this afternoon. Seas 6 to 9 feet, occasionally to
11 feet, building to 9 to 13 feet, occasionally to 17 feet this
afternoon. Wave Detail: Southeast 12 feet at 8 seconds and east
2 feet at 10 seconds. Intracoastal waters extremely rough.
Showers with a chance of thunderstorms this morning, then showers
and thunderstorms likely this afternoon.
.TONIGHT...Tropical storm conditions expected. South winds 35 to
45 knots with gusts up to 60 knots. Seas 12 to 16 feet,
occasionally to 20 feet. Wave Detail: Southeast 15 feet at
9 seconds. Intracoastal waters extremely rough. Showers and
thunderstorms likely, mainly in the evening.
.FRIDAY...Southwest winds 25 to 30 knots, diminishing to 15 to
20 knots in the afternoon. Seas 7 to 10 feet, occasionally to
