277 FXUS64 KLUB 262305 AFDLUB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lubbock TX 605 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Friday) Issued at 210 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 Clear skies and light winds will continue through this evening under an upper ridge, with high temperatures today reaching the mid-to- upper 80s and overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 50s. Sunny skies will persist Friday and rising upper heights will allow for slightly warmer temperatures, potentially near 90 in some locations. && .LONG TERM... (Friday night through next Wednesday) Issued at 210 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 Upper level high pressure will remain anchored to the west of the forecast area with generally warm temperatures and dry conditions through the forecast period. Meanwhile, the remnants of Helene will remain well east of the region with no effect on the forecast area. Progged geopotential heights continue to run near 590 dam at the 500 mb level which should result in warmer than normal high temperatures and near normal low temperatures given the clear skies and dry air mass in place across the forecast area. The exception could be Tuesday with the potential for a cold front to move through the southern High Plains, although given the lingering strength of the upper ridge and the parent mid/upper level energy being well to the north any effect on temperatures will likely be brief and modest. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 605 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 VFR until further notice. Light, southeasterly winds will veer westward after sunrise Friday. && .LUB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
