            started as thunderstorm moved overhead.

            A storm survey team found evidence of an EF
            1 tornado with estimated peak winds of 90
            mph. The tornado touched down near Highway
            17 in Verona, then lifted southeast of
            Marines Road near Camp Lejeune, for a path
            length of around 9 miles. The tornado was
            estimated to have a width of 150 yards.

            Delayed report. Based on storm survey path,
            the Verona tornado became a waterspout as it
            crossed the New River. Time estimated based
            on radar.
