Issued 301 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Tonight through Thursday night: Quiet conditions are expected through Thursday night as strong high pressure builds into the region. Expect some daytime cu both days. Highs today should peak in the mid to upper 70s, and highs on Thursday should be closer to 80. Winds will be light and variable. Patchy ground fog will be possible tonight, mainly inland from Lake Michigan, and potentially again tomorrow night, mainly confined to central WI. CMiller && .LONG TERM... Issued 257 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Friday through Wednesday: Quiet conditions linger into the extended as high pressure will linger and then ridging aloft will largely prevent the remnants of Hurricane Helene from making an approach at southern WI. We will experience some of the wind however and strong northeast winds may drive hazardous swim conditions Friday night into Saturday. Above normal temperatures in the upper 70s will persist into this weekend until a dry cold front moves through Monday, pushing daytime highs down into the 60s and making conditions a bit more seasonable. CMiller && .AVIATION... Issued 241 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 VFR conditions should persist through the rest of the afternoon. Any lingering cu this afternoon should have bases above 4000 feet. Cu coverage will lower close to sunset. Otherwise winds will remain light and northwesterly with a weak lake breeze along the lake taking hold until sundown. Patchy ground fog is then expected overnight mainly inland from Lake Michigan, but lack of confidence in coverage and vis restrictions preclude inclusion in the TAFs at this time. CMiller && .MARINE... Issued 241 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 High pressure will linger over the Upper Great Lakes region into Friday morning. Light and variable winds will persist during this time, as the week pressure gradient over the lake won`t force a certain wind direction for any appreciable amount of time. Friday, the remnants of Hurricane Helene are projected to move into the Ohio River Valley as a post tropical cyclone. The stronger pressure gradient from the low will move over the southern end of Lake Michigan, promoting gusty northeasterly winds during the day on Friday and overnight into early Saturday morning. Helene is gradually expected to fill and die out over the weekend, promoting a gradual decrease in northeast to northerly wind Saturday into Sunday. CMiller && .MKX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
