At 442 PM, National Weather Service radar detected a large area of
showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain generally east of
highway 69 in Oklahoma and in northwest Arkansas, also north of I44
and east of highway 75 and also in Arkansas west of I49.
Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain were located in Sequoyah and
Nowata counties in Oklahoma and Sebastian county in Arkansas. The
precipitation was in the Tulsa and Fort Smith areas. Movement was to
the northeast at around 20 mph. The average amount where it rained
last hour was one tenth to one quarter of an inch with maximum
amounts of an inch to an inch and a half. Intensity decreased during
the last hour. The Tulsa area forecast for late this afternoon and
into this evening, mostly cloudy, showers and thunderstorms likely
with temperatures 73 to 78 degrees and southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
